This week has been full of unexpected "events" that have taken me away from my normal routine. I really like to have schedules, systems and organization to my day; I'm not a fly by the seat of your pants kind of gal. Needless to say, I'm sitting up now catching up on the things I feel are required of me. But, as I was thinking it over, and planning my next few days, I was reminded of the old Saturday Night Live shows and Roseanne Rosanna Dana when she used to say "It's always something. If it's not one thing, it's another, and if not that, it's something else." I didn't realize back then, how incredibly true this statement really was.
How does this tie in to managing a business? Do you plan for the unexpected? Do you block time into your week, so that if something should come up you have some flexibility? What about emergencies, do you have systems in place where someone could take over for you? I strongly encourage all of my clients to have a procedure manual outlining all of the steps required to take care of operating their business - just in case, because "It's always something. If it's not one thing......
